Mission & Outreach

As a community of faith, we are sent by God into a broken world to work for its healing and reconciliation. The church exists for mission. It’s woven into everything that we do.

Faith into Action

We regularly put our faith into action and help meet the needs of our community and our world by participating in hands-on service projects like preparing meals for a homeless shelter in Upper Darby, building homes with Habitat for Humanity in Chester County, serving at Broad Street Ministry in Center City, or joining together each year with our neighbors in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service in West Philly.

Women’s Dining Circle

NOTE: During COVID, Women's Dining Circle is temporarily on hold.

Every other month, the women of Overbrook are invited to come together for a meal in someone’s home. Each meal is a fundraiser designated for a particular project, such as Women Against Abuse or Heifer International. Women contribute whatever they would pay for the cost of a meal in a restaurant, and the money is matched by funds from the church’s Mission & Outreach budget. It’s a great way to do good, while also having a good time and meeting new people. To find out more about Women's Dining Circle and see pictures of past dinners, please visit the Facebook page.

Fair Trade Market

Every year in late November or early December, Overbrook sponsors a two-day Fair Trade Market that is open to the whole community and features fantastic fair-trade crafts, food, and gifts from around the world, produced by local artists and artisans. Among our suppliers are Ten Thousand Villages, Bamboula Ltd., Equal Exchange, Tabitha Silk from Cambodia, Global Crafts, Women's Bean Project, and many more. Every dollar spent at the Fair Trade Market helps guarantee a living wage for people in developing countries.

Mission & Outreach Budget

Each year, roughly ten percent of the congregation’s annual budget is dedicated to Mission & Outreach. Among the many agencies and projects that we have supported financially are Broad Street Ministry in Center City, ManUpPHL, and the worldwide mission of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
